Several of GroundCloud's features utilize Geofencing. This article will give an overview of how Geofencing is applied.
Overview
Broadly, Geofencing creates an area centered on a location that tracks when a driver enters it.
This feature can be used for a Time Card clock in or out centered around your terminal. When drivers arrive in the morning, they are punched in, and when they get back to the terminal, they are punched out.
Geofencing also monitors when a driver approaches their next delivery. As a driver crosses the Geofence (default 200 feet from the stop), they are prompted to confirm the delivery location.
Customization
Delivery Check Radius
The Delivery Check Radius determines the distance from each stop where the driver is prompted to confirm delivery. This setting applies to all routes.
Navigate to the Settings page in GroundCloud.io.
Enter a custom distance in feet for the delivery check.
If the feature should be disabled, set the value to zero.
Time Cards
Geofencing enables automatic clock-in and clock-out for drivers.
The Auto-Clockout Distance sets the distance from the terminal where drivers are clocked out at the end of the shift.
Once a driver enters this range, clock-out is initiated and completed after the Auto-Clockout Padding period.
Enabling Geofence Shift Start allows drivers to clock in automatically when they arrive at the terminal. The shift begins after the Clock-In Padding time is complete.
