How to Place a Driver and Complete L10

Before assigning personnel under an agreement with FedEx Ground, service providers agree to:

  • Confirm personnel is at least 21 years of age and has a valid driver's license for at least two years.

  • While processing the FADV order for a new candidate, select Position Type ‘D’ to initiate a nonDOT driver less than 10,001 lbs. and select Driver Type ‘U’ to initiate a new L10 candidate.

  • After reviewing the completed application profile, the service provider places the order using Package ‘D’ NonDOT Driver Less Than 10,001 lbs.

Covid L10 Restrictions

  • Only a Background Check and MVR are required from FADV.

  • The Road Test and 12 hours over three days of Observed Training is ONLY required if you advance the driver to L20.

  • Candidate takes GroundCloud Online Training.

  • The L10 certificate should be provided to local FedEx Ground station management during the workforce documents and badging processes. The certificate does not need to be retained by station management. DO NOT upload the documents to FADV. Candidates and their authorized officer (AO) should be ready to produce the training certificate at any time upon request.

  • The L10 Driver is ELIGIBLE to operate a route once step 15 is completed.

  • Before beginning the L20 program, the driver must complete the Road Test and 12 hours over three days of Observed Training on a Live Route in an L10 vehicle.

  • The online training is valid for one year from the date of completion. The 12 hours over three days of Observed Training must be completed within 21 days of the Road Test.

How to Move Driver to L20

Start by asking First Advantage at FedEx.Support@fadv.com to create the driver qualification file. Please include the driver's name, FedEx ID and the Under 10,001 lbs. order number that includes the MVR.

Note: If you have trouble creating the Driver Qualification File, please email one of the District Quals listed below (please select the District you operate out of).

Once a driver file has been created in FADV, you need to upload an L10 training certificate, road test and med card into FADV and make sure you are compliant.

You then need to go into FADV and rescreen the candidate the EXACT same way:

  1. Have the driver open the email and log into FADV.

  2. Then just select Submit.

  3. Once they have done this, you place the order; however, THIS TIME YOU WILL SELECT DRUG TEST ORDER ONLY. It’s First Advantage report code 2169. The drug test populates an order.

  4. Then you can either:

    1. Wait for FADV to attach it or

    2. Call them and select option 1 for drug testing.

    3. Give them the specimen id number for them to attach.

Tip: If the drug screen is already completed and just needs to be linked, contact FedEx.Support@fadv.com and provide the Specimen ID at the top of the Chain of Custody Form and the order number from the drug order, and they will assist if within 30 days of original screening.

If:

  • A drug test shows negative/pass and

  • The driver file has been created and

  • All the regular documents for the driver to show compliance are uploaded to FADV

Then the driver may complete:

  • The L20 Online Training

  • The 4.5 practice time (practice on the Road and Driving Range)

  • The Road Test (OP104)

Note: The van must be empty while conducting the Practice Time and Road Test.

You then need to upload the Road Test (OP104) to FADV. This action takes 24 hours to show in the driver’s file as compliant with no errors.

The best practice is to wait 24 hours and then ask your station if the driver is eligible to begin L20. If so, proceed with the required three days of Observed Training for L20. If not, you can have Station Management check the New Graduate Qualifications Master Report to see what’s missing. GQ Master reports.
