GroundCloud Graduated Driver Training L20 (with COVID-19 info)


GroundCloud Process

GroundCloud process for L20 GDT compliance:

  • Make sure the driver has FULLY completed the L10 program in its entirety (online testing AND live route training)

Note: This is a FedEx requirement with NO exceptions.

  • If the driver has NOT taken the L10 program through GroundCloud, then they will need to enroll in the L10 program FIRST

    • Enroll driver in GDT L10 through GCio account

    • Finish the online GDT L10 online testing

    • Complete the Live Route training (12 hrs/three days)

    • Enter the info into the GCio GDT L10 training details

  • Once the L10 is completed (in its entirety), then they can be enrolled into the GDT L20 program

  • GDT L20 is required to be completed in its entirety (online course and ALL live route training) by the due date

Qualifying a Driver for a Vehicle Over 10,001 lbs.

Creating a Driver Qualification File (DQF)

  1. Contact FADV at FedEx.Support@fadv.com to request a DQF.

  2. Request that a Driver DOT File be created or activated if it already exists but is inactive.

  3. Include the following details in the request:

    • Driver's name

    • Driver's ID number

    • Original L10 order number

    • Statement: "Driver is developing from L10 to L20 and needs a DOT file created or activated."


Uploading Required Documents

Once the DQF is created, upload the following documents to ensure compliance:

  • L20 Road Test

  • Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MCSA-5876)

  • L10 Certificate from the training vendor

  • Additional requests from FADV

  • Initial drug screen results (select the applicable option)


Ordering a Drug Screen

If an L10 candidate is qualifying for L20, follow these steps:

  1. Order a "Drug Only Package" through the service provider's account.

  2. Re-screen the candidate using the original order number from the less than 10,000 lbs. qualification and order the "Drug Only Package" (FADV report code 2169).


Linking an Existing Drug Screen

If the drug screen has already been completed but needs to be linked:

  1. Contact FedEx.Support@fadv.com.

  2. Provide the Specimen ID from the Chain of Custody Form.

  3. Include the order number from the original drug screening.

  4. The request must be submitted within 30 days of the original screening.


Completing the L20 Qualification

  1. The candidate must complete all L10 requirements, including waived items such as:

    • Road test

    • 12 hours of observed time

  2. The candidate must complete the L20 program with a training vendor that meets L20 standards.

  3. The L20 program must include:

    • Road test

    • Practice time

    • Observed hours
