4K Quick Install Guide

This is our easy guide for setting up your new 4K VEDR device. For more detailed information, please reference the Installation Guide included with your 4K VEDR unit.


Included

  • 4K Camera

  • Windshield Mounting Plate

  • 128GB Micro SD Card (installed)

  • OBD II 10 ft Power Cord (packaged separately)

Note: We recommend adding the device to your GroundCloud account prior to installing it in your vehicle.


Activating Your VEDR Device

Step 1: Log in to your GroundCloud.io management portal to activate your VEDR device.

Step 2: Navigate to the Devices page.

Step 3: Click the +Add VEDR Device button.

Step 4: Enter the Serial Number and Password.

Step 5: Click Submit.

The Serial Number and Password may be found on your device as shown.

Now you can proceed with the installation of the VEDR unit into the vehicle.


Installing Your VEDR Device

  • Begin the installation process by finding an unobstructed spot 3-6" from the top of your windshield.

  • Choose a spot as close to the center of the windshield as possible.

  • If this is not possible, then choose a spot towards the driver side of the windshield still aiming for close proximity to the center.

  • The camera needs to have a clear and unobstructed view of the driver and as much of the cab as possible.

  • Clean the windshield with glass cleaner, followed by an alcohol pad (provided), to ensure a clean mounting surface.

  • Remove the sticker backing from the Mount Plate to reveal the adhesive, position it on the windshield and press firmly against the glass while holding for 30 seconds.

  1. Next, route the OBD II Power Cord to the OBD II port. (Most OBD II ports are located under the dash on the driver side of the vehicle.)

  2. Be sure to route the cord in a way to avoid it becoming pinched or in the way of safely operating the vehicle.

  3. Then plug the cord in to the camera.

  4. Make sure to remove any protective film from the Driver Facing Camera and Road Facing Camera prior to installation.

  5. With the Mount Plate attached to the windshield and the Power Cord connected to the device, position the device on the left side of the Mount Plate.

  6. Ensure the Mount Plate locking tabs are aligned with their fittings on the camera Dock, then slide the camera to the right to secure it firmly onto the Mount Plate.

  7. Now you are ready to turn on the vehicle!

  8. When the vehicle is turned on, the device should power up and you will hear a chime followed by a series of beeps or you may also hear voice prompts indicating firmware updates.

  9. Once this is complete, the unit will have a faint red LED glow, this indicates that you are ready to move on. Upon initial power up, the unit will check for any potential firmware updates. Most times taking the vehicle for a short drive will help initiate the connection and firmware update.

  10. Verify the view by using the Waylens Fleet App or the Live view in your GroundCloud.io account.

Adjusting Camera Orientation

  1. For optimal vision in and around your vehicle, adjust the camera’s position to make it parallel to the road.

  2. Use a coin to loosen the Dock hinge by turning the adjustment slot counterclockwise. Adjust the camera’s position to make the Dock hinge parallel with the road. Tighten the Dock into place by turning the adjustment slot clockwise with a coin.

  3. Please ensure the 4K device is installed properly and firmly attached to the windshield prior to operating the vehicle. Be sure to make any necessary adjustments to the angle or position of the device before heading out on the road.

  • Click x3: Flip on WiFi Direct Mode

Secure4k Memory Card Upgrade Instructions

  1. For easier installation Unclip from Windshield Mount. Firmly press camera to the left, and pull straight down.
    DO NOT REMOVE WINDSHIELD MOUNT FROM WINDSHIELD

  2. Locate SD Card Slot. Located on the front of the camera.

  3. Remove SD Card. Press the memory card gently inward until you hear or feel a click. The card will pop out slightly for easy removal.

  4. Install Upgraded Memory Card. Align the new memory card with the slot, ensuring the gold contacts are facing DOWN. Gently push the card into the slot until you hear or feel a click.

  5. Attach to Windshield Mount. Align camera with windshield mount. Gently press up and right to latch in place.
