This article covers the operational status of VEDR devices and Device Tickets displayed at the top of the Devices page in the GroundCloud account. The status only appears at the top of the page when a device encounters an error or is not operational. When an error occurs, an email or text is sent based on the chosen notification preferences.
Errors and Their Causes
Device Media Error: SD cards used in the devices are designed for high-frequency recording but may need cleaning over time.
Camera Not Connected: This error occurs when the system detects a power loss, loose wiring, or disconnection of the VEDR device.
Device SD Card Door Open: The door to access the SD card is not properly shut.
No SD Media Present: The SD card is either missing or requires cleaning.
Device Camera Obstructed: This indicates a missing, blocked, or improperly positioned camera.
Internal Failure: The device is not functioning and requires service. This error is rare.
VIN Mismatch: Occurs when there’s a discrepancy between the VIN in your vehicle profile and data from the OBD-II plugin. If detected, correct the VIN in the vehicle profile. This applies only to devices connected via the OBD-II plugin.
For example, if you get the "Device Camera Obstructed" notification, use the View Event feature to check the camera and remove any obstructions. Once the camera is adjusted correctly, click the Device Checked button to resolve the issue and remove the device from the error section.
Other errors follow similar workflows and appear the same way.
By following this process, you ensure that:
Devices are recording correctly.
Compliance regulations are met, preventing important incidents from being missed and ensuring the cameras protect you as intended.
